Yolanda Bush and the Cool Water Collective

Yolanda has been singing and drumming for decades.  She is versatile in numerous styles, which include Blues, Jazz, and Rock.  Her voice is singular, transformative, engaging as her performances hold and delight around the globe. In addition, she is a tight, deep pocket drummer with impeccable meter.  She has toured the U.S., Italy, and Eastern Europe, performing with numerous ensembles.  Her influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Tony Williams, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Chobham, Chick Corea, Terri Lynn Carrington, Abbey Lincoln, Joni Mitchell, Stravinsky, Claude Debussy, ad infinitum.

She brings the Cool Water Collective to FSC—a flexible ensemble of stellar musicians each of whom is an expressive and highly accomplished band leader. This magic combination of artistry, nuance, passion, and swagger promises an unforgettable experience melding Blues, Jazz, Rock, and R&B.

Yolanda Bush (Vocals) has been singing and drumming for over four decades. She is versatile in numerous styles, which include Blues, Jazz, Rock, jazz, and R&B as a vocalist and tight, deep pocket drummer with impeccable meter. She was born and spent early years on the Southside of Chicago, where she was surrounded by music.  She began what she calls her meteoric rise to anonymity and became quite an accomplished boxer, as the result of her experiences as an accordion-playing, African American youth from the south side of Chicago. She studied trumpet and choral music, and performed with numerous ensembles, including a brief stint with the Chicago Youth Symphony, and numerous theatrical productions. A prolific songwriter, she has also performed extensively as a solo guitarist, singer/song writer. She has toured the U.S., Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and elsewhere performing with artists such as Gwen Avery, Alexander Belkin and The Road Band, Mark Fox and Sonic Nomads, to name a very few. Her influences include Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Esperanza Spaulding, Miles Davis, Jimmi Hendrix, Billy Chobham, Chick Correa, Abbey Lincoln, Joni Mitchell, Stravinsky, Claude Debussy, ad infinitum.  She currently resides in Upstate New York, where she performs with her latest project, Yolanda Bush and the Cool Water Collective.

Wyatt Ambrose (Guitar) is a guitarist, educator, and composer based in Oneonta NY. Though his creative and professional roots are in the Jazz lineage, Wyatt approaches his work with an open heart and mind to all forms of great music. Wyatt is a sideman and bandleader in the region and has performed with venerated regional and national artists. He is currently an Artist in Residence and Adjunct Professor at Hartwick College in Oneonta. Since 2020, he has worked with liberal arts and music students alike in private lessons, ensembles, and classroom settings teaching jazz, popular music, and aural skills. He is also an active independent educator, working with private students individually and in group settings.

Joe Damone (Drums) is a professional drummer, educator, band leader, music director, music producer, and music contractor with over 30 years of experience in all aspects of the music business. Joe has worked with The Mamas and Papas, Sally Marr and her escorts with Joan Rivers (Broadway), Jesus Christ Superstar, Oh Calcutta (Broadway), Jazz great Freddie Hubbard, Jazz great Stanley Turrentine, Tom Brown, Noel Pointer, The Eurythmics and Chuck Berry. Joe attended the Mannes School of Music and the Julliard School, and studied privately for 15 years with Norman Grossman and Jazz great Michelle Carvin.

Tim Iversen (Piano/Hammond B3) is the Jr./Sr. High School Chorus Teacher for the Cooperstown Central School District, where he also oversees the musical theatre program. He has worked on well over one hundred musicals with student, community, and professional theatre groups as a music director, director, vocal coach, accompanist, and pit orchestra musician. Tim plays with the Old Masters Jazz Ensemble and sits in frequently with other jazz, blues, and rock groups in the area.  He is also the organist and choir director for the First Baptist Church of Cooperstown.

Evan Jagels (Bass) is a versatile bassist and accomplished improvisor. He is cofounder and bassist of Duo Extempore, whose curated improvisations draw from classical and jazz virtuosity, weaving together storytelling, history, art, and architecture. Together with NYC-based pianist Nicole Brancato, Duo Extempore explores every shape of improvised music through film production, live scoring, technology, and performance. Jagels is an in-demand freelance jazz musician, having shared the stage with many jazz luminaries both in the US and abroad, and bassist for Killdeer Trio. He has a MA in Music Performance from Queens College and is Lecturer of Music at Hartwick College.
