Red Submissions

FSC’s second production of the 2025 season is Red, by John Logan. Red is a play about the life of artist Mark Rothko in the late 1950s, and explores Rothko’s artistic struggles and beliefs as he works on a commission for the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York City.

  • First rehearsal—July 22
  • Opening—August 8
  • Closing—August 24
  • Contract—SPT, Tier IV: 5 shows/week, Thursdays–Sundays

The role of Mark Rothko is cast, but if you would like to submit an audition in case a substitution is needed, you may record a monologue in the style of the play. Upload your video submission to YouTube, Vimeo, or your G-Drive, then click the SUBMIT AUDITION button to the right to access our Audition Portal to complete your submission.

The role we are seeking is below:

Ken

Male, 20s. An aspiring painter in his 20s who is quiet, thoughtful, and nervous around Rothko at first. Ken is extroverted and optimistic, and an eager student of Rothko’s lessons. Ken is also ambitious, hard-working, and impertinent. He seems to be hiding a dark past.
