Good People Submissions

The first production of our 2023 season is David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People, a comedy about a single mom struggling to survive in South Boston (Southie). When she meets up after many years with her ex-boyfriend from high school, now a well-to-do doctor in Chestnut Hill, Margie thinks she may have found the solution to her insurmountable difficulties.

  • First rehearsal—June 13
  • Opening—June 30
  • Closing—July 16
  • Contract—SPT, Tier IV: 5 shows/week, Thursdays–Sundays

Jeannie

Female, Caucasian, 50s. A tough talking truth teller. “A mouthie from Southie.” Funny. Takes no shit and is a good friend to Margie. Works a catering job at a banquet hall. Could throw a good punch if pushed to.

Kate

Female, 30’s-40s, African American. Upper class, intelligent, cultured and refined. From an elite and influential family. In love with her unfaithful husband, but is wise to his ways and insists on going to couples counseling with him. Kate loves to host parties and teaches literature at Boston University.

Dottie

Female, 60’s, Caucasian. Margie’s landlady who also takes care of Margie’s daughter who has a disability. Dottie is patient with Margie and her constant financial woes but only to a point. Dottie is not in a position to be giving away free housing and does need to get paid at the end of the day.
